Abstract

This article proposes the transvestite-trans* collective as an object of Social Representation. The central core and peripheral elements are located, as well as the figurative nucleus and Anchoring. A bibliographic search is carried out to establish the objectification on the sex-gender conceptualization, based on a binary sexual system, with emphasis on heteronormativity and cisexuality. That is to say that gender, sex and desire are homologated, considering the categories of the 'masculine' and the 'feminine' as 'natural'. This produces the invisibility of the dimensionality of human sexuality with harmful effects for this population, which materializes in the loss of rights and in the reduction of the average life of the collective to 35 years. Finally, the media debate on inclusive language in the Argentine mass media in 2018 is related to the diffusion as a means of communication. And it is identified as an indicator of a process of social support that includes sexual dissidence as part of the general population, underpinning the struggle of the transvestite-trans* collective as an active minority.
