Abstract

Training in Psychology careers at the national level presents, among its vacant areas, the gender and diversity perspective. The changes promoted in this matter in the last decade, show the essential need for training institutions in Psychology to incorporate these topics with responsibility and solvency.

The demand for decent treatment and equality in terms of rights and opportunities becomes the main focus of action on which the perspective of gender and diversity is called upon to be a tool to intervene.

In this context and based on the experience that the group History, professionalization and teaching of Psychology in the countries of the Southern Cone has in terms of training psychologists, we present the results of a research carried out at the National University of Mar del Plata (UNMdP), whose objective was to investigate, based on semi-directed interviews, social representations around the perspective of genders and diversities in professionals dedicated to the clinic, graduates of the Faculty of Psychology of the UNMdP from both the 1989 and 2010 study plans.

The results show a series of biases that can be related to training problems in Psychology careers at the national level, revealed by the available bibliography in the last thirty years. From this research, it is expected to achieve inputs for the improvement of the curriculum and the planning of actions aimed at updating training on issues of great social relevance.
