Estudio exploratorio de Elogios utilizados por cuidadores primarios de Argentina a infantes de 0 a 3 años.
Abstract
Praise has been considered as positive feedback associated with parental behaviours that reinforce children's behaviour. This demonstration of affection and attention has been a relevant predictor of various aspects such as self-esteem, self-confidence and the ability to persist in the face of challenges. However, the contributions on child development depend on the type of praise used (product, person or process). Given the impact on children's overall well-being and the scarcity of research at the local level, it is relevant to study primary caregivers' praise of children aged 0-3 years living in Argentina. We found a high frequency of complimenting children's efforts and processes in both open and closed questions on the types and moments of praise. In addition, there was a concordance of the ways of praising with the categories used in the literature. This exploratory approach provides knowledge to be able to advance in more rigorous and ecologically valid studies on the topic relevant to child development.
