Abstract

The review analyzes the book Professional Training of Psychologists: Dialogues of Cultural Psychology from Latin America to the World (Ossa, Jacó-Vilela & Cudina, 2025), situating it within the contemporary movement for the renewal of the historiography of psychology. The volume proposes understanding professional training as a historically situated process, articulated with specific social, political, and cultural contexts in Latin America. Comprising 23 chapters, it brings together national analyses that reveal both regularities and singularities in the processes of professional regulation, highlighting factors such as university reforms, authoritarian regimes, and accreditation policies. The dialogical structure, which incorporates international commentaries, further expands its comparative dimension. The book contributes to challenging universalist perspectives and to reaffirming Latin America as a site of knowledge production, while repositioning the training of psychologists as a privileged analytical lens for interrogating the epistemological and political foundations of the discipline.
